Several features set us apart, including a unique professional focus on exploration on production in the Gulf of Mexico.

CGA continues with its strong emphasis on training.  One of CGA’s significant improvements to the overall program was the ability to gather and store information using an in-house developed purpose-built training database using FileMaker Pro.  A focus on the analysis and use of the improved data allows for better alignment of training action plans with organizational goals and resources.  Here is the data captured for 2017.

Training Events and Attendance
CGA conducted 177 equipment training deployments (including 56 formally scheduled external and 121 internal) with 431 total attendees categorized as follows:

  • Clean Gulf Associates employees – 43
  • T&T Marine personnel – 49
  • Preferred Response Organizations (PROs) contractors – 226
  • CGA Member company representatives – 45
  • United States Coast Guard (USCG) personnel – 57
  • Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) – 9
  • Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) – 2
Activity Breakdown 
In addition, CGA participated in the following activities:
  • Member company drills and exercise – 92
  • BSEE unannounced exercises – 18
  • BSEE unannounced equipment deployments – 3 (wildlife, 95’ FRV, boom barge)
  • QI/SMT annual trainings – 60
  • Spill Responses – 13
A Few Training Highlights
This past year, CGA had several notable multiple purpose training and deployment events including:
  • Two Geographic Response Strategy (GRS) deployments conducted as part of the joint Anadarko and Coast Guard led MEXUS exercise.
  • A full underway Koseq Skimming Arm deployment out of Galveston
  • Joint training with OSRL in Venice, Leeville, and Harvey, LA
  • Joint CGA and T&T qualification (PQS) training in Galveston
  • Four (4) full underway FRU operator qualification (PQS) deployments out of Lake Charles, Vermilion, Morgan City, and Aransas Pass
  • Internal CGA oil transfer procedure qualification training (all sites)
In addition, a newly upgraded, fully interactive, web based Tactics Manual is available on the CGA website with details about CGA equipment, site locations, and deployment methods as well as our upcoming Training schedule.
